Postgraduate Certificate in Econometrics

If you have a first degree in economics or finance and would like to acquire some further training or technical updating in some particular areas of economics, econometrics or finance, we now offer one year part-time certificate degrees which allow you to participate selectively in our regular MSc Economics, MSc Finance and MSc Financial Engineering.

Aims

The purpose of this qualification is to provide a programme for those students who would like to obtain very specific training in advanced econometric theory and applications. It is a course of study in its own right in which students take the same courses and exams as those enrolled in the MSc Economics, MSc Finance and MSc Financial Engineering. The programme provides specific training so that upon completion students are able to:

• collect and process economic data;
• transform economic theory into applicable models;
• use modern econometrics packages;
• apply a wide range of estimation techniques;
• interpret and evaluate the results;
• present the analysis and conclusions in written reports.

Entrance requirements

The same as for MSc Economics, namely :a good second-class honours degree in economics or finance and you must pass the qualifying mathematics examination in September.
