Programme Structure

The programme can be completed through one year of full-time study or two years of part-time study, and includes the following elements:

• Introductory pre-sessional course in Quantitative Techniques (Mathematics and Statistics) and Introduction to Finance, which provides students with the foundations they need to successfully master the programme.
• Core courses in Theory of Finance, Financial Econometrics and Advanced Financial Econometrics, which cover essential topics to help students pursue a successful career in all areas of Finance.
• A variety of options, which allow students to tailor the MSc programme experience to individual interests and demands.
• A final academic dissertation in which students persue an emprical or theoretical study in a topic of their choice under supervision of one member of the faculty.

In addition, the MSc Finance programme offers:

• trading room simulations through which students gain hands-on experience in stock broking;
• some sessions in programming which helps students prepare for jobs with a quantitative profile;
• close contact with academics and invited practitioners to stimulate discussions and critical thinking.
