Welcome to the Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics

The Department brings together research and teaching in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics in a single Department which creates significant inter-disciplinary synergies.

Our teaching is informed by the latest research and by the needs of employers. We offer a wide selection of graduate, undergraduate and 'conversion' courses in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics. In addition we also provide customised in-house training to various government departments and city firms.

NEW PROGRAMME:
Over the past 20 years the subject of Financial Risk Management has emerged as a branch of mathematical and statistical science in its own right. Furthermore, the events surrounding the current financial crisis will ensure that it will remain crucial in the years ahead; this is already evident in the increased demand in the financial sector for individuals with quantitative skills in this field.
